Homecoming Spirit Week in PHS! Dress up days are: Mon--Laundry Day; Tues--Celebrity Day; Wed--Gone Fishin'; Thurs--School Colors; Fri--Wolf Hunting. Games on Friday and Saturday, with masking required of all spectators. Friday night will also be our Homecoming Court ceremony with a dance following the games at the ANB/ANS Hall. Saturday night will be senior recognition. What a great week to be a Petersburg Viking!

BASKETBALL GAMES vs Metlakatla High School this weekend. Tickets are available at the following website https://www.pcsd.us/page/ticketsales OR the HomeTown Fan app. We currently have a limited capacity to accommodate seating arrangements for traveling teams, PHS teams, pep band, cheer and spectators. Once the event is sold out, there will be no more tickets available. Game Times are as follows: FRI 3:30pm Girls JV (Modified) 4:30pm Boys JV, 6:15pm Girls Varsity & 7:45pm Boys Varsity. SAT- 3:30pm Boys JV, 5:00pm Girls JV (Modified), 6:15pm Boys Varsity & 7:45pm Girls Varsity. **Reminder that masks are required for our indoor Region 5 ASAA events at all times. Petersburg Homecoming will be Fri and Sat, February 25 & 26th. The Wrangell Wolves will be in town for boys and girls basketball games, starting around 3pm on both days, plus our cheerleaders and pep band will be performing. Friday night following the games, there will be a Homecoming dance for PHS students only in the ANB/ANS Hall. All participants will be required to test during the day on Friday, but will not be required to mask during the dance. Dance tickets are $7 per student/$10 per couple. The Homecoming court presentation will occur between the varsity games on Saturday night. Tickets to the basketball games will be through our Hometown Sports link on the District website; games will also be streamed through the NFHS network. Hope all our Viking Fans can get involved for this exciting weekend. Go Big Blue!

PHS Semester Awards Assembly will be live-streamed on Wednesday, Feb 2nd, at 9:10, for families & community members that want to watch. There is no cost to watch this on NFHS. This event is in-person for students and staff only. We will be celebrating academic achievement from the first half of the year, as well as recognizing activity participation. Mitkof MS Q2 Awards Assembly will be Tuesday, Feb 1st, at 8:20am. We will celebrate student achievement in Wright Auditorium. This event is open to parents/guardians; there will not be a live stream. All attendees will be required to wear a mask for safety.

Mitkof Middle Activity Night tonight from 6:30 to 8:30. All current MMS students are invited to join us for dancing, open gym, board games, Just Dance 2022 and dodgeball. Entry cost is $2 with candy and soda available for purchase as well; please enter through through the main PHS doors.

We have been able to get 2 boys teams here to Petersburg for some games. Unfortunately girls teams that were scheduled to arrive have recently canceled on attending. It was wonderful to have our students back in-person on a normal schedule here at school, despite a few room shuffles! Thanks to our families for working to safely get their students to and from school, despite the winter challenges. Awesome work from our Borough crew and local maintenance folks in sanding around the schools! Here's hoping we can keep the in-person learning going as this ice and snow slowly melt away.

IMPORTANT: Due to continued concerns about the snow load on District buildings, combined with the upcoming winter storm advisory and heavy rains, Petersburg High School and Mitkof Middle School will be released at 12:15 on Friday, January 7th. Buses will run at 12:15, and students will have grab and go lunch. Athletic practices will remain at their regular times. This will allow staff time to prepare for the upcoming weekend weather on the school property.
