Exciting News! Eleanor Kandoll has been selected as a Poetry Out Loud finalist and will compete in person on March 20th in the KTOO studios in Juneau.
Eleanor will be reciting three poems:

- "What Women Are Made Of" by Biana Lynn Spriggs

Congratulations to the PHS Cheer Team who earned the title of Region 5 2A Champions this past weekend in Juneau! Way to go!
Also, congratulations to the Viking Boys who were selected as the at-large team for the upcoming State Basketball tournament in Anchorage. First game will be held Thursday, March 16 at 3:15 pm against HooperBay. Go Vikings!
Boys Region V Basketball Championship is happening tonight! Petersburg Vikings vs. Metlakatla Chiefs. Playing on the NFHS network or broadcast on KFSK. Game time is around 5:15 pm.
The Petersburg School District is seeking quotes from licensed providers for itinerant special education-related services in the following areas: Occupational Therapy, Speech Therapy, Physical Therapy, and Educational Psychology. These services include screening, evaluation, direct service contact, collaboration, and training for the 2023-2024 school year. Region 5 Basketball Update from Juneau: Lady Vikings take on the Haines Glacier Bears at 3:00 pm, Thursday, March 9! Viking Boys take on the Metlakatla Chiefs in the Championship game Friday, March 10 at 4:45 pm. All games will be livestreamed on the NFHS Network! Go Vikings!

We want to remind you that the Parent Teacher conferences for Middle and High School students will take place this week on Thursday, March 2nd, from 4 pm to 8 pm and Friday, March 3rd, from 2 pm to 6 pm. To ensure a smooth experience, scheduling an appointment for the conference is important.

PHS is in need of a Track and Field coach for this year's season, March 6th - May 20th. The coach would be responsible for holding practice and attending a few track meets off Island. This coach would not be expected to know everything about Track and Field, but they would be responsible for helping facilitate learning. Petersburg is hosting an Invitational with Klawock, Unalaska, JDHS boys, and Ketchikan girls all in attendance. Come out for three full nights of Basketball! These will be the last home games of the season!
