Thursday North Seeding Volleyball Tournament Schedule Update. Due to a cancellation of travel for today, a new schedule for Thursday has been released. The remainder of the schedule will be released later Thursday evening.

💃🕺 From busting moves in Just Dance to lighting up the dance floor, Vikings' love for dancing truly shone through last week. Seeing everyone let loose and have fun was incredible, and it's moments like these that bring our school community closer together. Here’s to many more days and nights filled with laughter, rhythm, and unforgettable memories! 🎶✨

In Mrs. Ward’s Food Science, students dove into the art of making caramel apples, exploring the science behind caramelization and learning the importance of precise temperature control. They discovered that caramelization begins as sugar molecules break down at around 320°F, changing color and developing rich flavors. The hands-on process gave them insights into how small changes in heat can alter the texture, color, and flavor of caramel, making it both an educational and delicious experience.

👻🎉 Costume contest fun alert! Our students brought their creativity and style to the costume contest last week, and wow—they did not disappoint! 🧛♀️🧙♂️✨

PHS will be hosting the North Seeding Varsity Volleyball Tournament this Thursday, Friday, & Saturday. Come and get your volleyball fill this weekend at the PHS Gymnasium.

PHS- Food Science Fun
In Mrs. Ward's Food Science class, students are diving into food safety with a hands-on lab focused on bacterial growth. They’re cultivating bacteria from meat and lettuce samples stored under different conditions: some left at room temperature on the counter for 24 hours, and others kept in the refrigerator. After incubation, students are observing and comparing bacterial colonies on Petri dishes filled with nutrient-rich agar. Through this experiment, they gain insights into how storage conditions impact bacterial growth and learn valuable lessons on safe food handling practices.

PHS Intro to Chemistry-
This past week, two outstanding educators from Alaska Resource Education visited Mrs. Ward’s Intro to Chemistry class to share insights about careers in natural resource industries. The students delved into topics like electricity, renewable, and nonrenewable resources, enjoyed racing solar cars, and engaged in hexagonal thinking to creatively link and expand their understanding of these concepts.
