Are your children missing any clothing from the HS/MS locker room or Lost and Found? Last chance to retrieve your child's lost items. Please come by and look through the items if you think they might be yours. We will be here til 4:00 today and 8-4 Thursday.

Representative Rebecca Himshoot stopped by the district to deliver Legislative Citations to three members of our Administrative staff. One for Erica Kludt Painter for her years of service and upcoming retirement, Heather Conn for her National Distinguished Principal recognition, and one for Jaime Cabral for being a Champion for Kids! We have a lot to celebrate about our leadership staff.
Reminder: No School on Monday, May 27th in honor of Memorial Day. All school offices will be closed as well.

We are excited to announce that ALL Petersburg School District students will receive FREE breakfast and LUNCH in the 2024-2025 school year, no free or reduced application is needed. All three of our schools qualified as Community Eligible Schools, including Rae C. Stedman newly qualifying this year. The district will still provide the high-quality meals they always have, and the added benefit is that it will be FREE to ALL students.
We are thankful to the Food Service staff and their Director Carlee who works hard to keep costs down while finding ways to secure outside grant funding to keep her program top-notch and providing great tasting healthy meals to kids!

"Heather is a recognized a statewide leader in implementing the READS Act, advocating for improved reading instruction and outcomes. Conn's proactive approach includes hosting community cafes and securing grants for curriculum and professional development. Her oversight ensures clear communication, effective assessment schedules, and curriculum implementation. Conn's leadership has led to significant progress for at-risk K-3 students, making Petersburg a model for reading instruction based on the science of reading. She's an exemplary ambassador for literacy education in Alaska."

In celebration of Earth Day middle and high school students will be doing a community clean-up on Thursday, April 18th from 11:30 - 1:30 pm. Students will be out and about in the community and on side streets, please watch for groups and drive with caution.
